Description

Early production Smith and Wesson Model 586. This is a "no-dash" original production revolver from the first few years of the model line. This revolver does not have the "M" stamping to indicate it was sent back to Smith and Wesson for the early recall (if desired, that can still be done for free) and so is in completely original condition. This 586 has the rare 8-3/8" barrel length but is not set up in the Silhouette style with adjustable front sight, making this a highly unusual Smith and Wesson. Condition is very good. Fitted stocks are the somewhat scarce dark uncheckered style occasionally seen on 80s L and K frame guns and in superb condition with no significant flaws. Mechanical function and lockup are excellent. Pistol is fitted with the widened target style hammer and trigger. Bluing is excellent with a prominent turn line. No significant fouling is present. No flame cut above chamber. One major flaw is present - there is some kind of repaired pitting or other abrasion on the right top of the barrel towards the muzzle; the color has been matched exactly between the undamaged and damaged areas - see pictures. A very nice example of a rare configuration of classic Smith and Wesson.
