Great working man's rifle

I already had an AR upper in the 450BM caliber. However, I wanted to shoot some good subsonic loads which require a faster twist than 1:24. The Ruger is a 1:16 twist so it fitted the bill. I have bought a few other Ruger Americans and found them to be accurate and very affordable. This rifle being the Gen1 was cheaper than the Gen2 and I picked it up. The magazine allows you to load the bullet further out of the case and therefore more room for powder. This coupled with the greater strength action than an AR15 lets you load up higher velocity rounds. Perfect for dropping animals right there in the woods of the Eastern half of the country.
The rifle itself is good enough!! The trigger on the Gen1 is easily lightened with a $8 spring change. The Gen2 I have, in a different caliber was not so nice and I put a Timney in it. There was no need for a Timney in this, it's not a target rifle any way. The rifle now sports a suppressor and is pleasantly accurate. The stock is nothing to write home about but mine free floats the barrel which is important. Overall it's a light and handy woods rifle that can reach out to about 250 yards with the right load. For what I paid I am very happy with this rifle.

A great buy from a good company.

I was nice to do business with a company that has good customer service and good ethics. They don't lie and they don't just tell you what you want to hear. When you ask them a question they will give you the best answer they can good or bad.

They have great prices and they ship in a timely manner. Product I purchased arrived in good condition as advertised.
